A robbery suspect was shot Monday night in Tennessee when his would-be victim's husband opened fire, police said.
WKRN reports it happened around 9:30 p.m. outside an apartment in South Nashville.
Police said a 25-year-old woman was walking to her apartment when Jordan Ponce, 19, ran up behind her and grabbed her purse. Ponce began slamming the woman's head against the building wall when she resisted, prompting the woman to scream.
Officers say the woman's husband heard her screams and rushed out of the apartment. Ponce ran and the husband jumped over a railing and landed on top of him.
A fight ensued and eventually the husband drew his gun and fired, hitting Ponce once in the abdomen, according to reports. He was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.
The 25-year-old victim was treated for cuts and bruises.
A department spokesperson told Fox Newsshe was not aware of any pending charges against the husband who pursued the suspect.
