Bakersfield, CA—The grandmother of a newborn baby boy drowned the child shortly after being born “to prevent family shame.”
Beant Kaur Dhillon, 53, found her 15 year old daughter in a bathroom inside their home in November, after the teen gave birth. After killing the baby, Deion gave the dead body to her husband, Jagsir Singh, 47, who placed the remains in a plastic bag. The body was then given the Dhillon’s nephew, Bakhshinderpal Singh Mann, 23, to bury the body in the backyard.
The Bakersfield Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance with locating Mann, who remains at large. Police learned of the incident after the teen, who is now 16, reported it to a “third party” who then reported it to police. Police say the teen did not receive any medical attention after giving birth, which may have led to the teen sustaining serious injuries.
On Tuesday, police went to the family home at 5205 Shining Crag Ave to unearth the newborns body from a planter in the backyard. Anyone who has any information of Mann’s whereabouts are urged to call police immediately.
