Washington, DC-A D.C. police officer was shot Monday night in Southeast.
Officers responded to a report of shots fired at an apartment in the 2200 block of Savannah Terrace SE about 7 p.m.
When the officers approached the building, a man came out and started firing at them, shooting at the officer. The officer was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Officers fired back and fatally shot the suspect.
Police then declared a barricade situation for fear that there might be a second shooter. Officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds inside the apartment a short time later. He was in critical condition.
Police have not identified the suspect who fired at the officers or the man found shot inside that apartment.
