El Paso County, TX-A Sheriff’s Deputy is in critical condition Friday after reportedly being shot multiple times.
Police say that an El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputy was rushed to the hospital early Friday morning. The deputy was shot multiple times, to include wounds to his head.
El Paso County Sheriff Richard Wiles reported that the suspects had been apprehended and were in police custody.
The Sheriff said the deputy was conducting a traffic stop early Friday morning involving a car that had run a red light.
The vehicle came to a stop by the Chicken Ranch Road and Socorro Road intersection. As the deputy approached the vehicle, he noticed a male and female inside.
One of the passengers exited the vehicle, and shot the deputy multiple times.
The deputy sustained multiple bullet wounds including a bullet to the head. Wiles said the bullet did not hit the deputy’s brain.
The deputy was rushed to the hospital and it listed in critical condition.
A manhunt began for the two suspects, who were found hiding in a nearby shed. The two were taken into custody without further incident.
The gun that was used was also recovered.
The deputy and suspects have not been identified at this time.
