Indianapolis police discovered the body of Southport Police Detective Sergeant Jason Swanson early Monday morning Indianapolis, IN – Southport Police Department (SPD) Detective Sergeant Jason Swanson was found dead outside his vehicle early Monday morning.
Sgt. Swanson, 43, was working a part-time security job when he passed away, the SPD said, according to WISH.
Officers at the scene said that Sgt. Swanson passed away from “natural” causes, WXINreported.
“As you can imagine, we are devastated to learn of the passing of Southport Detective Sergeant Jason Swanson,” the agency tweeted on Monday morning. “At this time, we ask that you keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. The loss of a brother is never easy.” Sgt. Swanson joined the SPD in January of 2015, Southport Police Chief Tom Vaughn told The Indianapolis Star.
