Derry Township, Hershey Park. An apparent attempted abduction took place, however the staff and security at the location failed to do anything about it.
After a child was grabbed by the arm in an apparent abduction attempt Wednesday at Hersheypark, his family and friends expected park staff to act quickly to alert park security and then the police. Sherry Webb, the mother of the child, stated that she had to contact several officials from the park before they made any attempts to call local Law Enforcement. Strikingly the ordeal took 30 minutes before the police were actually notified.
local police Chief Garth Warner issued this statement: “We did receive a report of an attempted abduction at Hersheypark, and we are continuing to investigate the concern that was raised. To date, based on the video surveillance we reviewed and the described nature and location of the event, we have not been able to conclude that an attempted adduction occurred, but our investigation is ongoing. We continue to work with the persons reporting this incident and staff at Hersheypark security.”
The Steelton chief also had some advice for park officials, urging them to take steps to combat similar situations in the future.
