Mr. Parker decided that his nutrition was more important than anything. In his recent statement his says. I can’t possibly take care of other people without taking care of me first.
Here is his story I started at 257lbs and I currently now weigh 188. My journey began January of last year (2018) when I had to get new uniform pants I went from a 34 waists to a 38 waist. I was tired and unmotivated. I could not understand how I allowed this to happen to me. I made a change and I am now a 30 in the waist! “Hard work” I realized I could not do the job 100% unless I was 100% happy with myself and health. I wanted to be fit, I wanted to be a beast, so I had my last unhealthy meal from a burger place and I began my journey. It’s like going out with a bang before you begin the hard work. Loosing the weight took time. I started with my diet, I cut out Unnecessary stuff, sodas donuts sweets all the snacks that us police love to have. I started eating more chicken, vegetables, fish and drinking more water. I went to the gym 5-7 times a week. I was running 4-7 miles a day. It was a struggle. The key is to have something internal to push you, something internal to motivate you because the outside world will bring you down. I saved my old pictures as a screen saver and when it got hard or I wanted to hit that 0500 snooze, or wanted to binge I looked at that picture, and I did something I told myself I’d never do. I looked back, but I looked back only to see how far I came. That 0500 sounded more like music than a nuisance. I woke, I trained vigorously, in the heat, in the rain and in the cold, All I needed was music and an my internal forces that pushed me and I felt I could conquer anything. Being overweight definitely affected me, I was loosing foot chases, I wasn’t happy with with the job because I wasn’t happy with myself. I didn’t like that I was out of breath just walking into the precinct from my car. It made the overall experience of being a cop suck. Being a police is not only about catching bad guys, but it’s about being able to get out your patrol car and walk around the neighborhood. Being able to run when needed and in our job sometimes it’s life or death, one thing for sure is I would not allow my health to be the reason someone 1 ups me in a fight. This journey has helped me greatly now, I love going to work, I love putting on my uniform and now I hope people run. Appearances arent everything but they damn sure boost confidence in all aspects of life. Yes, making a change doesn’t mean you have to know where to start. Making a change doesn’t mean you have to know anything about fitness. Making a change is a switch in a person mindset that they are determined to achieve something and in the process is where they learn how to start, how to maintain and how to finish strong. Starting something, begins in the mind and forms in the heart. So if you really want to start something, get it In your mind that you are going to do it no matter what people say, no matter the failures and hardships. You will overcome any obstacle that come your way. The beginning of success never starts with knowing everything, it starts with knowing nothing but willing to risk everything to achieve your goals.
