In the wake of George Floyd, massive riots ensued. Shortly after, the movement ( defund the police was born). However, the citizens of Minneapolis are not happy with the results. America has seen a historic rise in crime. One that many attribute to the recent movement " Defund the Police". While only a small portion of departments have actually had their funds cut, the problem lies deeper within the movement than just the name. Within the movement, there are calls for more police accountability, more transparency and overall calls to have more well trained police to better deal with situations which on the surface, sounds great, but After a long look at the movement, Americans have asked themselves, Is that really the goal of the movement? How could a police department that has been defunded pay for more training, Better officers and or reform which would set the department back millions or even billions in some big cities?

The police are not showing up or showing up late
The push from Minneapolis to defund police backfires after residents complain of slow response times, increase in crime. The City Council on Friday voted unanimously to approve $6.4 million in additional funding for the police department, a completely 180 from their previous statements in their hard pushed efforts to defund the police. While the movement gained massive traction in its early stages, the late effects of the movement are starting to show, and citizens are not happy with the fallout.
