Mooresville, NC-A police officer who was shot Saturday night during a traffic stop has died.
K9 Officer Jordan Harris Sheldon, 32, a six-year veteran of the Mooresville force, was slain shortly after 10 p.m., not far from Highway 150.
Sheldon was transported from the scene to receive medical attention but did not survive.
An unidentified suspect pursued by police in connection with the shooting was located in a nearby apartment but fatally shot himself as police closed in.
Police arriving at the scene after the shooting located what was believed to be the suspect's vehicle, then began chasing the suspect.
The suspect has not been identified at this time.
