New Orleans--New Orleans police are investigation a shooting that left one dead and two other injured, according to Police Chief Shaun Ferguson.
The shooting occurred on the 400 block of Bourbon Street on Sunday, February 24th, around 3:15 a.m.
District officers heard shots being fired and responded immediately.
A security guard was attempting to remove an individual from Willie's Chicken Shack when the individual tried to take the security guard's weapon. According to the Police Chief, it is believed that the individual gained possession of the security guard's gun and began shooting.
Three people were shot in this incident. The security guard, a 23 year old male was shot in the neck, the suspect was shot in the shoulder, and a 36 year old female was also shot. The female was transported to the University Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. The identity of the female has not yet been released.
The suspect, a 37 year old male, has been arrested and charged with one count of second degree murder and one count of attempted second degree murder. Officials have not released his name.
A fourth person was injured, however the condition is unknown. Police say investigators recovered the gun used in the shooting and are continuing to investigate the incident.
