CHICAGO. An off-duty Chicago police officer was critically injured in a crash on the Eisenhower Expressway Sunday night, police said.
Chicago Police is facing a devastating situation after one of their own was involved in a serious crash. The accident occurred on the inbound Eisenhower around 11:57 p.m. Police spent hours reconstructing the scene. The car went up the embankment, then came down across three lanes of he expressway before slamming into a concrete barrier. Police say the officer is 32, and has been on the force 2 years.
The officer is in critical condition. Several patrol cars were seen at the emergency room to support the officer as he fights for his life. The cause of the accident is not yet known..
