Portland, OR – Rioters set fire to the occupied Mark O. Hatfield Federal Courthouse on Thursday night, just hours after the security fence that has protected the building for months was removed.
The craziness began early in the afternoon, when a group of about 30 people entered the office building located in the 1300 block of S. West Ave. at 2:24 PM. The police said in a press release some of the members of the group brought animals into the building, while other smoked inside the building. They refused to leave, prompting Police to respond.
“The situation escalated when people began damaging property, including a television…and the front doors to the building,” the department said.
Around 60 to 70 protesters stormed the streets holding signs in wearing all black clothing. The protesters eventually made their way to a chase bank and try to force their way in. An arm security guard pulled his duty weapon causing the protesters to flee.
A video from the scene showed members of the antifa group as they tried to force their way into the building and banged on the glass doors and windows of the lobby.
“F—k the United States!” they yelled. “You’re f—king weak! Come outside…you don’t f—kin’ scare me, b—h!”
Other rioters set fire to the building and smashed out windows.
Federal Protective Services (FPS) officers spent about two hours putting out fires and pushing the mob away from the building, KOIN reported.
"It is ridiculous what is going on across the state at this time. Not even just across the state, but across America in general. America has been riddled with riots for most of 2020 and ongoing into 2021. Many are left wondering when is it going to stop, when is it going to end and when will Police be able to do their jobs effectively. America has seen the highest rise in crime in just the year of 2020 alone, setting an entirely new precedent across the nation"
