Kinnelon, NJ-A school bus driver is being accused of sexually assaulting two young Kinnelon students.
Thomas Thomasevich, 70, of Oakland, bribed them with candy and donuts so they would not tell anyone about the months of molestation during daily games of “hide-and-seek” on the bus.
Thomasevich was arrested Tuesday on charges of sexual assault, child endangerment and multiple counts of neglect. He is currently being help in the Morris County Jail.
The sexual assaults began in October and continued until one of the girls reported the abuse by ‘Bus Driver Tom’ to guidance counselors on January 17.
The girls were under the age of 13. The sexual abuse occurred on the bus outside of the school after Thomasevich parked and allowed them to play “hide and seek” with their seat belts off. He arrived early so that the girls would remain on the parked bus and that’s when he sexually assaulted them.
He also allowed students to play on the bus while it was moving with their seat belts off.
When officer interviewed Thomasevich, he told officer he might have touched one student, but it was accidental and because his eyes were closed for the game. He denies touching a second student.
A spokeswoman for the bus company, First Student, said they will be conducted their own investigation and that Thomasevich has been removed from service.
He faces two charges of sexual assault, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and six counts of cruelty and neglect of children.
