Being a cop is no easy task, Just ask the millions of people who apply. Ask the thousands who fail out of the tedious academy every year, and if you really want a birds eye view, just ask a Police Officer.
From the 6-9 month academy, to field training, many apply but few make it to wear the special shield that grants you the honor to call your self a Police officer. No it’s not a cape, no you cant fly, but not all super hero’s wear capes most wear uniforms, boots and sometimes a gun. Once you’ve accomplished this training and finally enter your “rookie” phase, the realization kicks in. Late nights, long hours and unimaginable sights that you can never get rid of. From endless paper work, to countless court hours on your days off, you may find yourself asking “how is this the most honorable job to have”
If you’re a cop, you probably already answered it, but for those who are not and/or aspire to one day wear the uniform, we will answer it for you.
Few people can make it in this field even after graduation. If you took this job, then you know that life itself has much less of a guarantee than it did before, if any at all. You will lose friends, family and you may find yourself more alone than you want be, but in spite of this, you still chose the field, because of something in you that’s buried deep within the confines of your being. Its called, pride, honor and an unwavering desire to serve.
Through all the good and bad, The job of Police Officer is one of the greatest jobs there, and if you choose to step out of the civilian clothes into a uniform, you will gain a new family, a new sense of being and a sea of blue ready to back you at a moments notice. Godspeed
