She has been arrested
Janet Elaine Hinds, 54, hit Officer Nicholas Galinger on Hamill Road while he was inspecting a manhole cover that had water flowing from it.
Officer Galinger was transported to a local hospital in critical condition where he later died. Officer Galinger was 38 years old and graduated from the police academy in January. Chattanooga Police Chief David Roddy says the community "lost not just an officer. We lost a son, a father, a friend, and a protector." Original report
Officer Nicholas Galinger was hit by a car which fled after striking him.
The car fled the scene and police are now searching for the suspect who was driving a 2017/2018 Honda CRV with heavy front-end damage. Anyone with information is urged to call the Chattanooga Police at (423) 698-2525

My heart sobs for our fallen officer. I'am angry that she felt the need to run after hitting him instead of helping him. She deserves to go jail.
